About Peace Ling Center

PEACE LING CENTER LOGO

The logo of the Peace Ling Centre approved by Geshe Sonam Dawa is a globe, a green Bodhi leaf and a pair of white doves. It has a multi-layered meaning but basically the three elements represent lack, striving and fulfillment.

1. The world is defined by mental unease, mainly based on a sense of lack. Always our minds are in a state of desire - desire for friendship, desire for resources or desire for well-being. A state of desire is a state of lack, a state of wanting but not having. That is what the globe in the logo represents.

2. Being in a state of lack, the creatures of the world strive to fulfill their desire. They work hard to free themselves from the uncomfortable sensations of wanting but not having. That striving, that working for fulfillment, is represented by the Bodhi leaf.

3. Finally, peace comes when the striving brings its results. Having what it desired, the mind is now at ease and the sense of lack is defeated. The two doves represent this sense of attainment and satisfaction - a sense of peace.
